Anyone out there?

Hello! It has been a very long time since I've posted here because I lost my log-in information! So I figured it out and I'm back! Leave me a comment to know that you're out there reading this!
The summer has been full of fun. I turned 30, and I think I'm having some sort of "must buy toys" midlife crisis. For most people that involves fast cars. I borrow other peoples cars, so instead I increased my stable of non-motorized toys.

The first addition was new rollerblades to replace the ones I got for my 20th birthday. The funny thing is that the old ones are still perfectly good 10 year old rollerblades! I just needed a half size bigger. Anyone wear a 6 1/2??
The second addition was a road bike. JB helped with that purchase, of course. I mostly ride at Kensington because the roads that are paved around my house are far too busy in the evening to ride safely. Kensington is nice because it's hilly so it's a good workout, but it's another 25 minutes from my house so it fills the whole evening by the time I get home. I've put a little over 80 miles on the bike so far! I have almost earned my pretty light blue bar tape! This is peanuts compared to Kristie, who puts 400 miles on her bike in ONE WEEKEND! Kristie rode her bike from Lansing to Mackinaw City - what an accomplishment!

The third addition was a kayak! I blame Kristie for this one because she found it on Ebay. A local "pick up only" listing no less, for EXACTLY the kayak I have been wanting for over 3 years (A Perception Carolina 13.5). I stayed up late one night to bid what JB and I decided was fair and won it for exactly that. It was meant to be. It took a while to get good sales on a rack for The Chief and a PFD, so my first time out was last weekend. I took it to a lake in Highland, where a friend from work lives. I spent 2 hours on the water but it felt like half of that or less! It was even more relaxing and enjoyable than I had hoped. I've found some groups on Yahoo of people who paddle together, so hopefully I can go out with them some time.

This summer I also had the opportunity to attend Camp Jeep as an official JEEP ENGINEER! I attended round table discussions with the customers where current and potential future products were discussed. When I wasn't in the round table, I manned the "Ask an Engineer" area where customers were able to ask us questions about their Jeeps. They asked everything under the sun. In some cases I went out to the parking lot (a huge field full of Jeeps!) to look at their Jeep and sometimes drive it to help them with whatever problem they had. Everyone was sending people with "noises" my way! It was like woodstock for Jeeps! The customers were so excited, it was amazing to see.

The silver Jeep in these pictures was built by Superlift. At the beginning of camp, it was a stock 4-door JK wrangler. Over the course of 3 days, they added all sorts of fun parts, including their 4" lift, and then everyone at Camp got to sign the body. It was actually part of a contest with another aftermarket manufacturer called SkyJacker. They had a Red JK across the aisle which they "upfitted" during camp. It was the JK "Build-off". Cool! Here are the before and after pictures for Skyjacker:

I Ihave seen more concerts this summer than I have in my whole life put together! Kristie and I went to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in mid-July as her belated birthday present. Then, Tim McGraw was at Camp Jeep. The more impressive part was his opening band, Halfway To Hazard. They were awesome! When I got home, I got a last minute ticket to Kenney Chesney and then the Week after that I got a last minute ticket to the Dave Matthews Band! Those were both sold-out shows, but the day or two before the released a bunch of tickets so I got one! Notice that the picture of Kenney is not zoomed in - I was sitting 1 row away from the stage!

This weekend I am looking forward to the Ithaca Grand Prix of Cyclocross! JB has organized this cyclocross race to raise money for his bike racing team, Team Giant. I am SO proud of him and all the work and organization he has done to make this happen! I am the official photographer so he has proof of a legitimate event for the sponsors, so I'll post a link to all the pictures next week.
Jewel is on Soundstage tonight so I'm going to sign out. Thanks for reading!
